About Mutualart
What is MutualArt?
MutualArt is a revolutionary online art information service, launched after years of extensive research and development. We are dedicated to empowering our members - over two million art enthusiasts, collectors and professionals - by providing more art information than has ever been available before, together with tools to customize that information, using our proprietary semantic web technologies.
How extensive is your archive?
Our archive contains complete auction results and artwork information such as provenance, condition, literature, exhibited history and more. We are the only market source to cover exhibitions worldwide as well as articles and news to provide deep insight and a solid background on every artist.
How does MutualArt source data?
Unlike other providers, MutualArt combines automatic data aggregation with a thorough manual review process, ensuring the information on our site is accurate and from a verified source. We are not a listings service and do not take payment for entries on our site, which allows us to retain objectivity. MutualArt selects its data sources manually, before collecting data via an automatic process. This data is then reviewed by a human moderator, who verifies its accuracy prior to publication.
Who can I contact regarding your data?
Should you have a question about our data, or find any inaccuracies, please get in touch with support@mutualart.com. MutualArt makes every effort to ensure the data on our site is accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive.
How many past auction prices can I see?
Access to past auction prices varies according to your membership plan. Unlimited access to our online database with millions of detailed auction results for over two decades, as well as all of our upcoming auction estimates, is included in the Premium and VIP plans. The Essentials plan will provide you with unlimited access to all upcoming auctions, but is limited to only auction results from the last year. The only plan without any access to past auction prices (results) is the Personal Alerts plan, which is meant to be used solely for upcoming auctions.
Does MutualArt list upcoming lots?
Yes, MutualArt lists upcoming lots for over 753,000 artists.
If you are simply interested in being alerted about upcoming auctions based on your indicated interests then our Personal Alerts plan is the way to go. You will receive daily emails that include auction lot estimates alerting you about upcoming sales for all of the artists that you follow. Make sure to follow up to 15 artists and as many auction houses as you wish in order to get the most out of your membership.
However, if you become a Premium or VIP member you will get full access to MutualArt’s Price Database, gaining unrivaled insight into both past auction results and upcoming estimates.
Which artists does MutualArt cover?
MutualArt displays past auction prices, exhibition listings, upcoming auction information and featured articles on over 753,000 artists - from old masters to modern and contemporary favorites, as well as emerging talent from around the globe. APPRAISALS
Can I use your art appraisal for insurance purposes?
The online appraisal report we offer provides the current fair market value of the artwork if it were put up for auction. Although some insurance companies may accept our report, most of them require a full appraisal, which includes artwork authentication. You can download a sample of our appraisal report to show your insurance company in order to ensure that it is sufficient for their requirements. To proceed with submitting an appraisal, please click here.
Can MutualArt confirm the authenticity of an artwork?
No. As the appraisal process is done exclusively online it is not possible to tell the authenticity of an artwork, which requires an in-person analysis.
I am not able to upload the images to submit my appraisal. What should I do?
Please simply process the whole appraisal submission without uploading any images, and then send us the images as attachments in a separate email to appraisals@mutualart.com.
I am experiencing technical difficulties in the submission process. Can I just email the information?
Yes, no problem. Please contact us at appraisals@mutualart.com and we will be happy to assist you with the submission.
